This was my first order to YMI. I had a good impression from other reviews and so had high hopes. And sure enough, my board came in the mail securely packaged. (It was a box inside a box, with the contents inside that one. I've been stacking them to use as a "table" for my daughter (6) and I to play on. She likes the stones but doesn't like it when I escape her encirclements. We play "for fun" [her's] rather than "for real.")
Anyway, the negatives are that the containers for the stones are plastic but sort of rough on the edges. When I was wiping them with a tissue, it was catching on those edges, but of course I bought the set knowing the containers wouldn't be amazing. (I'm looking forward to getting some nicer wooden containers.) Also, there is some sort of scuffing on the board that you can only see if you're holding it at an angle to catch the light. I'd say the overall quality of the board is "pretty good" rather than "very high quality." The stones are all in good shape, but I do wonder how long they will last without gentle handling--they're my first real set of stones. I bought a board from Barnes & Noble previously that turned out to be very disappointing despite the "Heirloom" tag. This one is 100x better.
I'm very satisfied with the purchase overall (shipping was expensive, even just the basic one...) and will definitely buy again.
P.S. The set came with a cool "Yellow Mountain Imports" sticker about the size of my hand. I'm still considering where best to put it.
