Customer Reviews
I purchased this as a gift for my son. He absolutely loved it. Excellent customer service!
Overall, the product is amazing! The wood is very polished and none of the pieces are chipped. The calligraphy is very good, would definitely recommend to buy.
This item is on the small side, as it is a folding travel set. I included pictures with a ruler(12 inches) and double A battery for scale. I think it's not so small as to be uncomfortable, I like the size a lot actually.
The most common complaints I see in the reviews are missing pieces, poor printing, and chips in the wood. I have none of these issues. All the printing looks consistent, no chips in the wood, and I have all the pieces + 2 spare pawns.
Things I like:
The font of the characters on the pieces is to my taste. 2 characters on the front, with red on the back.
The set just looks good, and feels good to use. Snapping the pieces down is fun.
The boxes for the pieces can serve as little tables for your captures, which feels very authentic.
Other comments:
The board is set up wrong in the photos on the product page. The squares are actually rectangles and they are meant to lay vertically. Shogi and Go boards are traditionally made this way to make them appear square when viewing at the sitting angle.
I play Go, Shogi, and Chess, and in my opinion Shogi is excellent to either take seriously or play casually. It's a bit tough to study the game as there is a lack of quality English content about it, but just playing as beginners with friends always leads to action packed games.
The product I ordered arrived on time and looks basically how i imagined it would look like based off of the pictures. Love the game and the shipping was decent.
Issa berry guuuuuuuuuuud.
