I'm a new player to this game so I still have much to learn. The game is somewhat easy to understand the basic concepts. If you're a visual learner like me, watch a couple videos on YouTube. The game was packaged neatly and arrived in perfect condition.
There's a lot of things to like about this board; it feels sturdy, it lies nice and flat instead of having a weird bulge where the hinge is, the wood grain pattern printed on it is pretty nice to look at, and the stones feel okay in the hands.
You should note that even though it's marketed as a travel board, it's actually quite large, probably about 80% the size of a full-size board, so be warned that it'll take up a fair amount of space if you want to carry it around!
I think there are a fair few things that could be improved, mainly around making it easier to carry around. My biggest complaint is that the stones have a tendency to spill out if the board is getting jostled around, like if you're carrying it around in a backpack or luggage or something. The bowls don't close securely, and the board itself only has those plastic catches that snap together, so even when it's folded closed it has a tendency to pop open and the stones go everywhere. It would be much better if the lids screwed onto the bowls, and the board had an actual latch to keep it folded closed.
It works exactly as advertised. Only real problem is that you really have to dig through the website to find this gem. Perfect for beginners who don't want to "shell" out 100 plus dollars, while still providing a lovely game experience. 10/10, 5/5, its 20 bucks just buy it already. (Also, its not annoyingly magnetic. Just magnetic enough, it doesn't ever get in the way of enjoying gameplay).
Looks good.
It's a good deal for the price. Nothing about it seems cheap; it's sturdy and actually looks quite nice, especially when there are lots of stones in play. It's not fancy, just plastic with a wood grain print, but that's all you need, especially for a travel board. I bought the smaller version of this set as well, just to have something even more portable for carrying in my backpack while biking. Totally worth the price.
